We are assisting a Chicago-based client in their search for a Payroll Accountant to process US payroll. This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in joining a growing and globally recognized distributor of consumer goods. Our client’s products are sold on a global basis through specialty retail stores and major department stores. Our client is based in Chicago’s Loop and offers easy access to public transportation.
The position:
· This position includes full payroll preparation, researching of federal/state payroll regulations for compliance, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, calculating/submitting multi-state tax submissions, reconciling benefit enrollments/charges with vendors, testing of software/tax updates, and preparing managerial reports. This position also includes benefit administration such as enrollments and new employee orientation presentations.
Requirements:
· Five plus years of payroll experience to include preparation of payroll tax returns and W-2’s.
· Knowledgeable about US federal, state and local payroll tax laws.
· Must have positive and proactive communication skills along with strong problem solving and customer service skills.
· BS degree in Accounting or related discipline preferred, but not required.
